ok, so some of us have expressed an issue with procrastination in our intro posts...please comment to this entry if you'd like for me/us to have/create something formal/structured within this group to help combat procrastination.

those of us who don't need that sort of assistance, well you are lucky and we'll do ther things for you:)

Can't I read this entry tomorrow instead? :)

Yes, I'm a serious procrastinator, and would love it if this community could help out with that.

(Also, I apologize for not doing my formal introduction yet - ironically, I must put off doing it :) I'm about to head out of town for the weekend. See you all on Monday!)

19th-Mar-2006 12:54 pm (UTC) - oh yes
that's why i'm a 7th year... oh no. i'm new to lj, is it okay if i post here? i'm looking for other dissertators, and it looks like this might be a good spot! once i start writing, it's kind of fun and good, it's just the hours i'm not writing, when i'm full of anxiety. i'm a phd candidate, in the "writing stage", trying to publish, finish, get ready for the job market next fall, present at conferences, and do all the stuff the rest of my life requires as well. so maybe it's not so much procrastination as it is juggling. no, it's procrastination. a combination of fear and sloth. one thing that's been helping me is to set a timer, and start writing, just for 30 minutes at a time. Also it has been helping to only allow myself to read with my laptop open, on, and next to me, so that when an idea comes into my head whilst reading I can put it down right away in my text.
